Mountain Memories Giveaway 2026 – Entries & Winner
Congratulations – Barry K.
As a young man had experienced a summer climbing in the alps. Several years later I had a family and when my son was 8 years while living in Maine I took him to climb Mt. Washington the highest peak in New Hampshire. After an early start and an arduous climb up the lions head route we reached the to in the mid afternoon, quite an accomplishment for an 8y.o. There is a cog railway also going to the top and someone offered us tickets for the ride down. Since my son was tired and I thought it would be fun we accepted the ride. Unfortunately I didn’t realize the trip ended on the other side of the mountain miles from where we started. Our only choice was to get back to the top on the train and the climb down. We had no money but the conductor let us on the last train and arrived around 5p.m. Now we a lengthy hike/climb down and it was getting dark. We reached the bottom safely in the pitch dark. To this day we share this exciting experience with laughter, and I know this also began my sons love of the mountains!
Thank You for Sharing Your Mountain Memories
We’re grateful to everyone who entered the Mountain Memory Giveaway and shared their incredible stories. Your memories captured the same spirit that Glen Boles celebrated through his art, adventure, connection, and love for the mountains. Every story reminded us why these landscapes matter so deeply.
Thank you for being part of this community and helping keep Glen’s legacy alive.

My husband and I have been married for over 20 years now. My 2 sisters were my maid of honour at our wedding. As a gift we bought 3 pencil drawings of the Three Sisters. Each of us has one hanging in our home still today. The picture is a reminder of that special day, the bond we have as sisters, the beauty of the mountains, and the amazing artist Glen was!

My mountain memory encompasses all of the time I have spent skiing at Lake Louise as a Ski Friend. Glen was a part of our team, and shared so much history and knowledge with us, to share with our guests from all over the world! Every time I go skiing or hiking I see our majestic mountains through their eyes, and appreciate how fortunate we are that we get to enjoy them whenever we like. I will never take that for granted. I love Glen’s mountain art to see how he experienced the mountains. Thank you for letting me share.

In 2005 I hiked up Totem creek in Banff national park with my good friend Jehn. We had planned on checking out some peaks of the Muchison group. we camped by a beautiful lake, wandered up the head of the valley and just awed at the amazing scenery and fine weather. Having not been able to get up one of the main objectives called Hall Peak, on our last day we ventured up what I thought was an unnamed peak. I carried all the ropes and gear…just in case. As we summited we found a register naming this South Totom Peak. Nearby, but beyond a steep notch was a slightly higher summit. I hauled out the rope, belayed John down the notch and in a short while we stood on this main summit. Buried in a cairn we found another register, it looked less visited. Inside Ifound a note from Glen Boles, from 1996 I believe. I have met Glen in the past, found his address and sent him this somewhat deteriorated note. We were lucky to find this link to the past as most others dont cross this notch to the main summit. It was a great prize to end a spectacular 4 days of exploring this beautiful valley.

My wife and I hiked from Lake O’Hara to Abbott Pass Hut and stayed for two nights in 2004. The weather was terrible and we did not get to climb Mt.Victoria. I feel very privileged to have been able to stay in such a dramatic place!

When we stayed at Banff Alberta we were surrounded by the beautiful mountains and it was so relaxing. The views were spectacular and made our stay a memory that will forever remain with us to share with others.

With a mountain guide, hiking with my then-wife and two sons 8 and 4 from Moraine Lake to Lake O’Hara via Wenchemna and Opabin passes. A memorable and wonderful Canadian Rockies experience!
